My responsibilities as Java Developer included:
• Device Integration: the project started by integrating the tracking devices using Quick Server library which is an open source Java library/framework for quick creation of robust multi-client TCP server applications. I was involved in analyzing the protocols of the devices and in implementing the administration interface in order to send and receive (Strings or Bytes) messages and commands from the device through GPRS and GSM.
• Tracking web application: in this activity, I was involved in the design and development of the tracking web application using EXT-GWT technology following the Client-Server paradigm. I implemented MVC classes for client side user interface that interacts with server side through RPC calls and web services. The web application was also communicating with the administration interface created above in order to send commands to the corresponding device. API Google Maps were also used in order to display all the devicesÂ’ position retrieved from the database and to create geo-zones on the maps.
• Database: The database was designed and developed using MySQL.
