K-Electric Limited formerly known as Karachi Electric Supply Company Limited (KESC) is at present the largest private sector power utility in Pakistan that manages the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity to the metropolis of over 20 million, one of the most populous cities in the world. 

Responsibilities

Worked as Assistant Manager (Meters) with following responsibilities:

Organizing and Executing HT CT / PT Operated Meter installation/replacement

Surveying and Executing HT New connection ,Extension/Reduction of load cases

Resolving all technical matters related to the installation of HT Meters including energy theft, calculation of load of a consumer and pointing out faults in CTs/PTs

I was in charge of a 5 member field team for installations of new connections for Industrial consumers and responsible for coordination between teams from different departments to carry out the installation.

The experience gave me an insight into how energy sector works, what are its needs and the problem it is facing. It also helped me increase my knowledge of Transformer, VCB, OCB, CT, PT along with Transmission and Distribution systems. As part of the Meter department team I also got to visit Generation and Grid Stations for meter installations at EHT facilities, helping me understand the basics of the system components like Gas Insulated, Air Insulated and Hybrid Switchgear.
