Technical Office Engineer and Permanent material Responsible at Salini-Impregilo S.p.A. GERDP – (Ethiopia, Mar 16 – present) Seconded to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project as the site Technical Office Permanent Material Responsible. The GERDP will be the largest dam in Africa: 1,800 m long, 170 m high and with a total volume of 10 million m³. The project involves the construction of a main dam in Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC), with 2 power stations installed at the foot of the dam. The power stations are positioned on the right and left banks of the river and comprise 16 Francis turbines with a total installed power of 6,000 MW and estimated production of 15,000 GWh per year. The project is completed by a 15,000 m3/s capacity concrete spillway and a rockfill saddle dam 5 km long and 50 m high, both located on the left bank. Ancillary works: No. 1 Spillway, design capacity 15,000 m3/s, 6 sluices 14 x 15.5 m. No. 1 x 500 kV substation. 120 km of access roads with a bridge over the Blue Nile (235 metres long). Camps and services for housing approximately 11,000 people. Total value: € 3.377,05 million. My key roles and responsibilities on site include: – Preparation of method statements for all works including execution, feasibility & technical studies. – Technical coordination between the production department (including topography, laboratory, geology, quality control, steelyard, workshop, carpentry departments, etc.), designer and scope of work Supervisor (internal and external / sub-contractor coordination). – Carry out market surveys and proposals associated with availability of permanent materials. Perform inspection of delivered materials / equipment and verification of compliance with specifications.
Site Engineer at Renco S.p.A. (Terminal Pètrolier de Djeno, Congo, October 14 – December 15) Seconded as Civil Engineer on the Moho Nord Project for TOTAL. The project is the development of all works related to an EPC contract for the MN Djeno Integration crude oil heating system, wharf refurbishment and interconnection pipeline.
