The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is the agency of the United Nations dedicated to eliminating hunger, and assisting developing countries. FAO employs more than 7000 employees, with headquarters in Rome and five further regional offices.

The implementation of the Oracle GRMS project (Release 12) comprised an upgrade of the Oracle ERP from release 11i to release 12, the introduction of the new IPSAS accounting standards, replacement of the legacy field accounting system, development/deployment of two new custom modules, to provide Travel and Consultant Contract Processing functionality. My roles included:  Business Analyst for HR Reporting, Talent Management, Recruitment and Travel. Coordination of the technical upgrade steps with other teams. Design and analysis of the upgrade approach and execution. Evaluation of the upgrade patches on GRMS configuration, customizations and integration points; Management of Unit and Integration test phases; Execution of User Acceptance Test and analysis of issues identified during UAT and Production Cut-Over. Example assignments and achievements included:

Requirements gathering, Gap analysis, AIM Documentations (MD050, MD070, CV040, CV060, MD120, BR100, BR30 and others), draft of the work plan.
Oracle Application System Administrator Setup (Roles, Responsibilities, Menus, Functions, Profiles, Global, Value Sets, Lookups, Messages, Flexfields).
Oracle Framework (OAF), Oracle Form Personalization, Web ADI and Oracle Workflow. Development of new reports and maintenance of existing ones (using Oracle BI Publisher and Report Builder).
Prepare online training material (UPKs) for Oracle iRecruitment and Talent Management modules. Update online Q/A, Help Desk documents, training materials and guidelines to reflect enhancements/changes.
Evaluation of pilot presentation of Oracle Taleo, aiming to improve Recruitment functions with current best practices.

Recruitment Function: Establishment of acquisition strategy with Communication Officers, evaluation of candidates CVs against position minimum requirements, assessment of long listed candidates with written tests, liaise with Hiring Managers and Selected Candidates regarding the process to streamline and facilitate their recruitment experience, maintain several Employment Rosters
Travel Module: handled >30k trips and 5M USD expenditure the first year. Design, development, roullout in more than 150 countries. Delivered training. Follow up on logged Stakeholder's problems. Developed Test Plans as required, executed Test Scripts for all the travel functions. Implementation of the WEB ADI upload of Quarterly Travel Plans.
Oracle HRMS Talent Management Module deployement (worker competencies management) for 4k employees. Organize Performance Management key users in the test and debug of the released technical extensions. Gather user requirements and submit Problem Reports and System Change Requests. Provide to management monthly progress reports. 
Talent Management Function: Support to Mobility – Match internal vacant roles with the skills of the employee’s pool to facilitate the identification of potential candidates. Evaluation of employees against Work Plan and Development Objectives: Provide Senior Managers with reports assessing achieved results. Establishment of a Competency Framework and evaluation of employees against the model through multi-rater assessments. Measurement and evaluation of talent pool on an ongoing basis.

Principali attività e responsabilità

During the implementation of the Oracle HRMS project (Release 11i) I was part of the HR Management workstream, covering the iRecruitment, Learning Management, Position Management and HR Reporting functional areas. As Technical Analyst I wrote design documents for our offshored development team in Bangkok. The project successfully completed all the phases, including the Gap Analysis, Conference Room Pilot, Configuration, Development, Testing (unit, integration, user acceptance) and Implementation phases. Extensions were developed across the full range of Oracle EBS tools, including Workflow Builder, JDeveloper, XML Publisher, PL/SQL. Reports, Forms, webADI, Personalization, AME and Discoverer. The project has been delivered according to AIM and PRINCE Methodology. Example assignments and achievements included:

Maintenance and Development of Human Resources and Financial reports using Oracle Report Developer 10g or XML Publisher.
Maintenance of Custom Forms (Salary Scales, Pay Factors, Duty Station Attributes) using Oracle Form Builder. 
Develop Test Plans and Test Scripts for Human Resources, Post Management and Payroll Accounting modules.
Assist Stakeholders in the test and debug of the developed extracts, reports and interfaces. 
Develop new reports with XML Publisher for Human Resources, Post Management and Payroll Accounting monitoring.
Modify existing Oracle Packages and production of new Packages to deliver requested extensions of functionality. Test delivered extensions. 
Provide XML Publisher training to the technical team and write a Training Manual on the subject.
Write problem reports and system change requests to amend or improve existing functionalities. 
Develop, maintain and modify Oracle configuration and design documents (BR.100, CV.040, MD.050, MD.070) for any type of Oracle HR object, including Leave, Competences and Learning Management. 
Map legacy data into Oracle HR objects like Employee, Assignment, Address, Phone, Special Information Types, Extra Information Types and Contact forms. 

Submit recommendations for Oracle work structures (Organization, Location, Position, Grade, Job) redesign to meet FAO Human Resources Management System requirements. 
FAO Dimitra website: Analyze its structure and its HTML/JAVA/JSP code to develop a CD ROM distributed to all field offices for off line browsing of the Dimitra Database.
Time reporting: Develop a Java application to store and report consultant's timesheets.
Upon Stakeholders request produce statistics using ad hoc queries retrieving data from the Oracle Human Resources Database. Production of reports with Oracle HR data. 
Data cleansing, consolidating data, removing inconsistent data for payroll data migration
Gather business requirements from key Stakeholders of Human Resources and Payroll processes to write Functional Specifications for new or existing Business Processes.
Analyze legacy HR database for the development of an efficient Data warehouse system with old legacy data. 
Daily solution of problems related to the transmission of data: Upon System Help Desk request, investigate problems of a various nature and resubmit the process after solution.
Perfect knowledge of the Oracle RDBMS, in particular of the tables related to the Human Resources, Purchase Order and Accounts Payable modules. 
Experience in the use of Oracle SQL Navigator and Toad tools
