Pre-sales/Engagement Manager

Esperienze

Dec 2000 – today Senior Technology Consultant and Mobile Broadband Engagement Manager, Ericsson, Milan

At the beginning of 2014 I was appointed as Senior Technology Consultant and Customer Technical Leader for Vodafone Italy KA;

as Senior Technology Consultant I was asked to deepen M2M/IoT domain e2e value chain topics, from embedded systems/devices/gateways to connectivity technologies (wired and short/long range wireless technologies including IEEE 802.15.4/BLE/NB-IoT/LTE-M, etc…), data management and M2M/IoT platforms/analytics (including dedicated protocols for device-platform interaction like MQTT, CoAP, AMQP, etc…); I made and I’m continuously updating a technology scouting in the different segments of M2M/IoT value chain, and I’m deepening the most relevant M2M/IoT applications/use cases (Industrial Internet, Automotive, ITS, etc…);

as Customer Technical Leader for Vodafone Italy KA (i.e. senior technical advisor supervising pre-sales and delivery activities) I’ve been supervising projects in the area of PS Core Network (SGSN-MME; GGSN/S-PGTW; DNS), Content Delivery Networks and Customer Experience Management (based on Ericsson Expert Analytics solution); in this context I’m also deepening topics related to the Telco Cloud evolution like NFV, SDN, and Data Analytics;

From 2001 till 2013 I matured a wide experience in customer engagement and pre-sales activities of radio access products/solutions HW and SW (GSM, WCDMA/HSPA, LTE, WiFi) towards mobile operators, including presentations up to CxO level, business cases, support in the definition of commercial offers; I’ve been then appointed as SPOC for wireless technologies towards H3G Italy first and Wind Italy afterwards thus being the technical responsible for pre-sales and delivery of sales objects bringing to the company yearly incomes in the order of tens of millions €;

I participated as technical responsible to several multi-million € tenders (RFQ/RFP), including the preparation of technical and commercial offers, defending sessions, negotiation phases; in these occasions I coordinated bid teams of 5/10 people, deciding the offered products baseline, supervising work progression and handling priorities to meet very tight deadlines quite often in very stressful situations;

I developed trusted relationships with major customers (mainly H3G Italy, Wind Italy) even at top management level, thus contributing to build/rebuild customer intimacy and increase customer satisfaction;

I also asked to attend SPIN selling courses to reinforce my sales and business development skills;

I led a team of five people for Radio Access and OSS products/solutions pre-sales activities towards Wind Italy, thus improving my coaching and conflicts management capabilities.

Jan 2000 – Dec 2000 IT Department System Analyst , Omnitel (now Vodafone Italy), Milan

I participated in a migration project  of call centers PABX-based voice service platforms to a Nortel switch DNS-based architecture, preparing test cases, supervising the network management solution and its integration into the Omnitel existing network management architecture;

I also worked in a project named InfoWorld targeting the implementation and roll-out of a speech recognition platform (provided by Philips) providing value added services to mobile subscribers, where I evaluated technologies allowing voice access to the WWW (VoiceXML, VoxXML) through a detailed comparison of available commercial products.

Dec 1996 – Nov 1999 Mobile Networks R&D Lab SW Designer, Italtel, Settimo Milanese (Milan)

I achieved a very good experience regarding channel co-decoding algorithms in the GSM system physical layer (BTS902 with SBS interface) and their implementation on DSP platforms;

I also achieved a good knowledge of the technical specs of the 3rd generation (UMTS) wireless systems;

Starting from scratch I learned Visual C++ and designed the Man-Machine Interface of a lab tool used to test DSP SW algorithms implemented on the DECT Radio Fixed Part (and related DSP-side SW module), thus allowing other SW designers to debug much more easily their SW algorithms and saving time / resources in overall SW product development.
